Position Overview:
The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and execution of the company’s end-to-end supply chain operations in a regulated medical device-manufacturing environment. This role oversees procurement, production planning, inventory control, and logistics to ensure the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective flow of materials required to support manufacturing, product launches, and commercial distribution. The Director of Supply Chain will work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Engineering, and Regulatory teams to ensure supply continuity, optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and support business growth while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies that support company growth, operational efficiency, and customer demand.
- Lead and manage all aspects of supply chain operations including procurement, demand planning, inventory management, and logistics.
- Establish and monitor supply chain performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to supply chain personnel.
- Oversee sourcing strategies and supplier selection to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, components, and services.
- Develop strong supplier partnerships and negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements.
- Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure suppliers meet FDA and ISO requirements.
- Mitigate supply chain risks through supplier diversification and contingency planning
- Lead demand planning and production planning processes to ensure alignment between customer demand and manufacturing capacity.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance supply continuity with inventory turns and cost control.
- Oversee material requirements planning (MRP) systems and ensure accuracy of planning data.
- Monitor and manage inventory performance metrics such as inventory turns, safety stock levels, and material availability.
- Oversee domestic and international logistics including transportation, warehousing, and distribution of finished medical devices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, shipping, and import/export requirements.
- Optimize freight and logistics costs while maintaining service levels.
- Manage supply chain budgets and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
- Monitor key financial metrics including material cost, purchase price variance (PPV), and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure supply chain activities comply with regulatory requirements including:
- FDA 21 CFR Part 820
- ISO 13485
- GMP requirements
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics
- Strategic supply chain leadership
- Supplier negotiation and contract management
- Demand planning and inventory optimization
- Strong financial acumen (COGS, PPV, inventory metrics)
- Regulatory knowledge related to medical device manufacturing
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Data-driven decision making and continuous improvement mindset
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field required.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
